A LONG WEEKEND IN DEVON

A long weekend in Devon

Devon might just be one of the loveliest places in England (I may be a little biased though, having grown up there). Everything about it is so different from the life we have in London. It’s slower, quieter, the air smells cleaner and the water is softer. The tea tastes better, and a warm bath is just so much more enjoyable, especially after a long day walking on the moors with the rain beating down.

Not too long ago we visited my parents, and I asked my friend Erika if she wanted to join us. We spent a long lazy weekend visiting some of my favourite places, watching movies, playing cards and drinking gin into the night. We ate hot chips drowned in salt and vinegar, made friends with some wild dartmoor ponies, explored the tiny streets of Totnes, and watched the tide come in whilst eating lunch in Noss Mayo. Country life might not be for me just yet, but Devon sure as hell does a good job of making me reconsider.
